New government – a story to be told about jobs

The Australian election is over at last but what the Coalition win will mean for Australian society is the story to be told in coming years. This week we are at page one of what might be quite a long read, as both pages and chapters. For sure, the outcome of the Coalition government in terms of employment will be one of the most closely followed elements of the story line. Will it be able to grow jobs? – (whatever that means). Will it be able to staunch the flow into unemployment predicted for next year? What will it have to offer groups such as the young unemployed and disenfranchised older workers? Will it have any interest in issues of job security and the growth and protection of ‘middle class’ jobs? Over the election campaign I wrote several articles around these issues.
