Update – audit commission and pension changes

The Abbott Government’s National Commission of Audit released its report on 1 May.

Here is what I said about it in a hastily written article for the Conversation:

Commission of Audit wants to rip up Australia’s social contract

There is much more that could be said and many more of the policy recommendations warrant thorough critique. However, hopefully the article touched a few of the fundamental flaws with the commission’s recommendations.

2 May – the Government announces it will lift the pension age to 70 by 2035 affecting everyone born after 1965, or now aged 49 and under.

A number of my articles have shown the inequalities that will be cemented from this policy.
