AI won’t replace you but it will modify you and your job

A key theme of my public speaking and writing over the last few years has been the effect of digitalisation on jobs. I take the view that the effect of digitalisation is not so much in replacing workers but rather how it will transform jobs and the way that they are done. So machines become progressively integrated into jobs and at the same time change the nature of jobs through further fragmentation.

The following is an interview conducted by a European based  Australian journalist, Jan Wisniewski on this topic for his aptly named program The Strife. It is based on my submission to the Senate Inquiry into the Future of Work and Workers which is an early draft of a longer piece written for an international comparative book on digitalisation and workforce precarisation to be published later in 2018 or early 2019.
